A former manager is sitting pretty after launching her own beauty therapy company, with business support from Swindon-based outplacement specialist Connect.

After leaving her desk job in the financial sector this summer, Susanna Mansukhani has gone back to her roots – as a beauty therapist.

Now she’s busy bringing a touch of Hollywood glamour to the ladies of her home town of Ipswich, with trendy treatments like eyelash extensions and gel nail overlays and extensions, as well as more traditional therapies, ranging from waxing to tanning.

Susanna’s holistic approach means beauty really is more than skin-deep. New clients are offered face mapping skin analysis, which analyses the skin and diagnoses problem areas that require special treatment as part of a home care or professional salon routine.

And massage, hopi ear candle treatment, body scrub therapies are all part of the services offered by Beauty Couture as well as special party and beauty packages, princess parties and prom packages.

“I trained as a beauty therapist before following a career in the insurance industry, working my way up to a management position, but I always had a desire to make a return to the beauty industry,” said Susanna.

“After leaving my office job, I contacted Nigel Price at Connect and told him what I wanted my next step to be. He was really helpful – not only did he offer me sound advice about starting my own business, but he put me in touch with another beauty practitioner, who gave me lots of practical advice.

“I was really impressed by the service offered by Connect and their personal service. Nigel went out of his way to help me start Beauty Couture. Connect’s attitude was: ‘what do you want to achieve, and how can we help?’”

Customers have the option to receive treatments in their own home – her blue Mercedes with its own false eyelashes is already becoming a familiar sight around Ipswich – or visit Susanna’s new treatment room, which is stocked with respected beauty salon products including Dermalogica, OPI, Gelish, and St Tropez.

“I am offering the salon experience in the comfort of your own home,” said Susanna, whose services can be booked on 07954 572604.

And on Fridays and Saturdays her services will be available at Hair at Fusion at 42a Tacket Street, Ipswich. Appointments can be booked via the salon on 01473 233547.

Outplacement specialist Nigel Price said: “Self-employment is not for everyone, but it does offer tremendous opportunities to those who are willing to work hard and have really thought through what they’re trying to do.

“Susanna has done her research, made careful plans and is now using skills and experience left untouched in her previous job. I think she’s going to be a great success and I really wish her well with her new venture.”

Connect offers clients a pledge unique in the outplacement industry – called The Connect Guarantee – to offer help and support for candidates until they are resettled, by finding a new job or starting their own business.
